Mechanic shooting action Metal Rage, developed by GameHi (Gun-Il Kim) and co-serviced by CJ Internet (Young-Jong Jung, president)’s game portal Netmarble, started its local location testing on the 24th and 25th.
The testing was executed in 47 Internet Cafés in Japan. By collecting the testers’ preference on characters, and balances between the characters, GameHi collected various data for localization.
This location test was a first for online games in Japan. It showed that the localization for Metal Rage was ready for the official service, and it boasted stable service and playing environment.
During the testing period, users traded the information about Metal Rage on the official homepage as well as various video websites and blogs, confirming the high expectation for Metal Rage.
Metal Rage is expected to be in good shape for localization, based on collected data such as contents collected through testing and user preferences. GameHi is planning to start its official service in Japan at the end of the year.
The director of Gameyarou, Yoon-Suk Choi stated, “Since the Japanese gamers have high interest in mechanics and team play, Japan is the market that Metal Rage needs to conquer. Based on this testing, we will do our best to fit the preference of Japanese gamers.”
On the other hand, the expectation for Metal Rage is high. On the teaser site they released, there are on average one thousand visitors a day, with a total of more than 100,000 visitors in three months. Metal Rage was the only Korean game to be participating in “2009 Tokyo Game Show.” The large figure of the sniper-type character “Blitz” in Metal Rage drew attention of many game fans who came to the show.
